Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - At least five houses in Banjarsari Village, Angsana Sub-District, Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, were severely damaged by coal mining activities.

The destruction of the houses of the residents surrounded by the mine made residents forced to flee to safer places.

"We are afraid that houses will collapse due to landslides. The problem is many of the floors and walls are cracked and split," said Nanang Supriatna, one of the owners of houses severely damaged by the mine in Banjarsari Village, Tuesday (6/11).

He revealed the cracking conditions at his house in RT 3 Hamlet 1 were getting worse on Sunday (4/11) afternoon after heavy rain.

At that time there was a landslide due to the mine which caused an 80-meter long village road break and five houses damaged.

Now Nanang and his wife and two children are staying at his parents' house hoping that the company is responsible for the loss of the house they have occupied since the 1980s.

After the landslide, residents were met with PT Borneo Mandiri Prima Energi (BMPE) facilitated by Angsana police chief Second Inspector (Ipda) Farikin.

In a meeting attended by Head of Banjarsari Village, H Aep Saripudin, PT BMPE promised to resolve with local residents affected by the mine (replacement of land and houses) no later than 7 days. If there is no settlement, the mining activities will be stopped.

Then PT BMPE will give the village Rp1,000 per metric ton calculated by coal coming out and being transported to the port. The company will provide compensation every month through the submission of invoices.

Even so, it seems that residents are not satisfied with the results of the meeting. According to Nanang, all this time the company claimed responsibility but there was never any realization.

Banjarsari village is currently in a condition full of coal mining activities by a number of companies. Transmigrants from Java who entered since 1980 in the area could no longer live in peace.
