Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - 400 athletes from 20 provinces took part in the South Kalimantan Governor's Cup national shooting championship which takes place on 29 October to 3 November in Banjarmasin.

"This is amazing, the participants are very many, I hope everyone can show their achievements," South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor said when opening the national championship at the Chandra Multipurpose Building in Banjarmasin, Sunday.

Especially South Kalimantan athletes, said Uncle Birin, his nickname, must be able to show high achievement and shoot for as many champions as possible.

"Why am I sure that South Kalimantan athletes can gain a lot of achievements because in the 2016 National Sports Week (PON) they could win four gold medals. Frankly, it was a surprising achievement for me at that time, but very happy," he said.

Chairman of the South Kalimantan Perbakin Herman Chandra revealed that South Kalimantan send around 30 athletes in the 2018 Governor Shooting Cup. "We have our athletes in all numbers," he said.

According to him, South Kalimantan is targeting to win the overall, which means must win as many as 15 gold medals.

"The gold medal contested in the national championship is 40 medals, we target our athletes to be able to reap 15 gold medals to win the overall championship," he explained.
