Tanjung, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Hundreds of participants in the 2018 Indonesian Fire & Rescue Challenge (IFRC) will get a new challenge in the form of mud rescue.
PT Adaro Indonesia's Mining Engineering Chief Suhernomo in Tanjung, Friday said the mud rescue is one of the new numbers to be competing in the 18th IFRC in Tabalong District.
"Mud rescue is an interesting challenge because the team must show skill in rescuing in the mud," explained Suhernomo.
The problem is that so far many mining sector workplace accidents have occurred in muddy areas.
Suhernomo was speaking at a press conference with IFRC Chief Board of Director Lydia, Board Secretary IFRC Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Irwan Hakim, Local Committee Chair Jamri Langoy and Media Relation Head PT Adaro Indonesia Kadarisman.
Irwan said IFRC 2018 became a learning arena in the field of saving emergency and disaster conditions.
"Through this challenge, participants can learn from other teams in rescue," explained Irwan.
24 teams plus 10 participants from the Kalimantan region took part. The 18th IFRC also brought instructors from Australia, South Africa, and the Netherlands.
As the host of PT Adaro Indonesia deploys two teams competed, namely the Bekantan team and the Hadangan team.
There are eight numbers competed in the annual event of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, namely structural firefighting, water rescue, firefighting competency test, road accident rescue, high angle rescue, mud rescue, confined space rescue, and fitness drill.
