Tanjung, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Pancawarga Forest Farmers Group (KTH) in Jaro Subdistrict, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, learn to cultivate kelulut bee. The local Forest Management Unit (KPH) teaches them to make trigona colony boxes.

One of the instructors Ristriyono in Tanjung on Sunday said that the training in making the colony box (stup or beehive) for kelulut bees is part of the coaching.

"Coaching in addition to institutional strengthening includes the practice of making trigona rounded stups," explained Ristriyono.

In this guidance, KPH Tabalong cooperated with counselors from Muara Uya Agriculture Counseling Center.

Kelutut (meliponini) is a stingless bee that produces honey just like a honey bee. But kelulut honey is said to have various properties and is higher when compared to honey bees.

Previously KTH Rangkaang Purui Village, Jaro Subdistrict, received 15 boxes of colony from the Kalimantan Forestry and Environmental Partnership Center (BPSKL).

Six Of the 15 boxes colony had been harvested with the production of two liters of kelulut honey.

They had not only the first harvest in KTH Rangkaang. They also tested the honey-sucker tool from BPSKL assistance.

The BPSKL Kalimantan Environment Partnership Section Head Agus Kurnia said the strengthening of institutions and communities in Tabalong is aimed that they could manage national forestry well.

"People as environmental partners are expected to be able to manage national forestry that is why an environmental network has been formed in a number of areas," Agus said.
