Rantau, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Tapin District Government won malaria elimination certificate. The certificate was submitted by the Minister of Health Prof. Dr dr. Nila Djuwita F Moeloek SpM to Regent Tapin HM Arifin Arpan.


"Thank God, this certificate belongs to the Tapin people who are so concerned about environmental health and sanitation till Tapin is free from malaria," the regent said.

Arifin Arpan, who received the certificate  while attending a worldwide vision of the day at the Center for Health Research and Humanities and Health Management in Surabaya, Thursday (11/10), said the certificate is the award from the Ministry of Health to the district or city which is considered successful in reducing the mortality and spread of malaria.

"Of the seven districts and cities that received malaria elimination certificates, Tapin was the only one that succeeded from South Kalimantan," he said.

He hopes the community along with health workers will continue to coordinate in an effort to prevent malaria, and keep the environment clean and healthy

"Elimination of malaria is a central government program that Indonesia is malaria free in 2030," he said.

Head of the Tapin Health Agency H Errani Martin said the district has always routinely conducted data collection on people suffering from malaria since 2013.

"If we find people who are positive for malaria, we treat it immediately until cured. We have prepared all the medicines and laboratories at the community health center (puskesmas)," he said.

"Around July 2018 the team from the Ministry of Health came to Tapin, the result was that Tapin was free from malaria," explained H Errani Martin.
