Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjarmasin is preparing to become a Friendly Youth City (KLP). Thursday (04/10), an assessment team from the Ministry of Youth and Sports visited the city of a thousand rivers to conduct an assessment.


Mayor H Ibn Sina through Acting City Secretary H Gazi Akhmadi hopes what the team will judge can be a good input for Banjarmasin to become a Friendly Youth City.

"Hopefully what is expected can be achieved well. God willing, we are willing to work together and to improve," he said.

In a meeting attended by all elements of the city's youth at City Hall, Gazi Akhmadi expressed his hope, "As a city that is already 492 years old, we hope this city to keep growing even better."

Head of the Youth and Sports Agency Achmad Noor Djaya, who accompanied the team during the assessment, confirmed Banjarmasin's participation in the assessment is not solely pursuing awards. "It's not a matter of getting an award, but about the appropriateness of getting the award," he explained.

One of the assessors, Reinaldy expressed his deep appreciation for the spirit of the Banjarmasin City youth to develop themselves with a variety of positive activities and businesses. "Hopefully the younger generation can now complement each other. I see that there are indeed be many changes. Hopefully the young friends here can raise their achievements, especially in the field of sports, "he said.

Assessment of Youthful Cities has been carried out by the ministry since 2016. Every year, only 10 cities and districts are included in the assessment.
