Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - To prevent non-procedural Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI), especially in potential areas in South Kalimantan, the Banjarmasin Immigration Office is tightening the administrative requirements for passport applications.

"The most common mode is through umrah and hajj, especially in the Hulu Sungai or Banua Anam area, because there is a Passport Service Unit (ULP) located in Barabai," explained the Head of the Banjarmasin Immigration Office Syahrifullah.

He was speaking while visiting the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection and Recruitment Office (BP3TKI) in Banjarbaru. The visit was intended to establish more intensive cooperation in the prevention of non-procedural labor migrants.

Syahrifullah acknowledged many findings of the doubtful validity of passport requirements documents. So, now every applicant for the pilgrimage to the holy land of Makkah must complete the travel recommendation requirements, the Ministry of Religious Affair recommendations and the ministry decree on the registration of the Umrah travel agent. Those will immediately be checked to the field to ensure the validity of the data provided.

Whereas for passport applicants who will become legal migrant workers, one of the requirements that must be fulfilled is complementing the recommendation letter from BP3TKI.

"We hope the steps taken by the Immigration Class I Banjarmasih can help prevent non-procedural TKI," Syahrifullah said.
