Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The National Zakat Board of Indonesia (Baznas) does not only channel zakat for community business capital but also provides assistance and training.

Head of Baznas for North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Tajuddin Noor in Amuntai said on Monday it had received a Zakat Community Development (ZCD) program from central Baznas worth Rp178 million.

"Through funds sourced from the collection of zakat by the central Baznas we channel it to the poor who have the right to receive, namely the craftsmen according to the technical guidelines of the ZCD Program," Tajuddin said.

He said the ZCD program from Baznas requires that zakat distribution be directed to improve the welfare of small and medium-sized businesses in a village.

Incidentally, Tajuddin said, many SMEs in HSU worked as crafters so 70 craftsmen were chosen in Haur Gading Subdistrict as recipients of the ZCD Program.

"Actually there are 223 families in Palimbang Sari Village, but based on the survey results, only 70 families have the right to receive zakat through the ZCD program," he said.

In the ZCD program, he continued, Baznas does not merely distribute zakat but provides guidance and training so that the distribution of zakat as capital assistance can improve the welfare of the community.

Deputy chairman II of the distribution and utilization sector of Baznas here HM Syarkani explained that Baznas HSU had ensured that those who received zakat (mustahik) had not previously received assistance from other programs.
