Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a trade balance of export and import in South Kalimantan in July 2018 which experienced a significant increase compared to the previous month.
"Exports through ports in South Kalimantan in July rose 28.42 percent and imports rose 69.45 percent," Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami said in the city of Banjarbaru on Monday.
She said the value of South Kalimantan's exports reached US$ 896.44 million, up from June's exports of US$ 698.71 million and up 39.48 percent compared to July 2017.
The largest contributor to exports was the mineral fuel group of US$ 735.40 million or an increase of 28.72 percent compared to June.
The second was the group of animal fats and oils which contributed to exports of US$ 134.79 million, up 37.00 percent compared to the previous month.
"The third group is a variety of chemical products with an export value of US$ 13.77 million which is down 36.35 percent compared to June's US$ 21.63 million," she said.
According to her, the main export destination countries were China amounting to US$ 279.08 million, Japan US$ 164.17 million and India with a value of US$ 160.86 million.
Two other destination countries are Malaysia with an export value of US$ 46.68 million and the Philippines US$ 40.93 million in July.
Meanwhile, the value of July imports amounted to US$ 158.55 million, an increase of 69.45 percent compared to June imports of US$ 93.56 million or an increase of 117.01 percent compared to July 2017.
The main import commodities consist of mineral fuels group US$ 147.13 million, mechanical machinery/equipment group US$ 7.74 million, marine vessels US$ 0.52 million.
The group of organic chemicals was US$ 0.47 million, the vehicle group and parts US$ 0.44 million with each contributing 98.58 percent of total imports in July 2018.
"The main import supplier countries are Singapore US$ 113.43 million, Malaysia US$ 34.89 million, Taiwan US$ 4.22 million, China US$ 3.25 million and South Korea US$ 0.78 million," she said.
