Marabahan, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - When the Barito Kuala District Government held a dragon boat rowing contest on Monday (8/27), it turned out that many clubs came to compete.

Among them, Bambalon, Murung Raya, Basahap Legend, Putra Sungai Lirik, Lepasan Sehati B, Putra Palak Alalak, Banua Anyar Papadaan, MAN 1 Batola, and Batik.

Even clubs between villages and schools also took part, such as Ulu Benteng Fajar, Banua Anyar Rudi, Lepasan Sehati A, SMKN 1 Marabahan A, Bahalayung, and SMK 1 Marabahan B.

Barito Kuala (Batola) is indeed a warehouse for rowing athletes. Athletes from this district have made many achievements in various local, regional and even national competitions.

The Regent Hj Noormiliyani, represented by the Assistant for Development of the Batola Administration M. Anthony, opened the competition in Marabahan, the district capital.

She hoped that these activities provide entertainment for the community and become part of finding reliable athletes in future regeneration efforts.

"We hope that with the establishment of regeneration, we will be able to maintain the achievements that have been achieved, and hopefully to increase further in the future," she said.

Previously, Head of Sports Division H Najihun said that the purpose of the competition was not only to fill and celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the Indonesian Independence but also to explore the seeds of rowing athletes and to promote the sport to the public.

The competition, he said again, was to motivate the interest of the younger generation in rowing that had been synonymous with Batola District.
