Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Tabalong Health Agency, South Kalimantan, Taufiqqurahman Hamdie said there are still many villages in the district not free from open defecation (BABS).

"This year we are targeting 15 villages each month to be free from open defecation," Taufiqurrahman remarked in Tanjung on Wednesday.

This is the effort of Tabalong Government who wants to be as an Open Defecation Free (ODF) district considering 75 of 131 villages and urban villages not yet ODF in 2017.

Taufiqurrahman expects in 2019 Tabalong to become a fully ODF district.

To support Tabalong's efforts to be free from open defecation, Regent Anang Syakhfiani confirmed the District Working Group for the Movement to Be Healthy and Stop Open Defecation (Bebas Tuntas). This action was supported by the dissemination of the Regent's circular to the target village involving 194 ODF cadres.

"We will validate the village that has not been free from open defecation by involving 194 ODF cadres," explained Taufiqurrahman.

The District Working Group consists of the Government Assistant I, Head of the Health Agency, representatives of the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation, who will work together to make Tabalong an ODF district.
