Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Newcastle University Australia embraced the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in its program to send 20 students and 3 professors to South Kalimantan.


Yesterday, ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi met Australian Ambassador HE Gary Quinlan AO with 20 students and 3 professors from Newcastle University at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.

Sutarto said he was proud and grateful to be able to implement the existing cooperation between ULM and Newcastle University to run this program.

The program is Newcastle University sends 20 undergraduate students and 3 professors to study biodiversity in South Kalimantan, especially regarding the behavior of the proboscis monkey.

Sutarto hopes the program will continue to strengthen the cooperative relationships between ULM and universities in Australia, particularly with Newcastle University, as well as to make the internationalization of ULM more enhanced.

"I continue to encourage ULM to collaborate with many of the world's top and leading universities to strengthen our international competitiveness," he remarked.

While HE Gary Quinlan AO warmly welcomed and took the time to discuss with students and professors from Newcastle Unversity.

The Australian Embassy in Indonesia is Australia's largest embassy in the world given the importance and close ties of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Australia.
