Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The 101 Antasari Provincial Military Commander (Danrem) Colonel Inf Yudianto Putrajaya targets South Kalimantan boxers to win three medals at the International Amateur Boxing Open Championship of the Second National Police Chief Cup which will take place July 4-9, 2018 in Manado, North Sulawesi.


"I target at least three medals from nine athletes who send, so they bring the name of South Kalimantan in the arena," Danrem remarked here on Thursday when seeing off the South Kalimantan boxers of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) in Makorem (Provincial Military Command headquarters) 101/Antasari.

He hopes, South Kalimantan boxers to take advantage of the prestigious championship which is followed by not only domestic athletes but 10 foreign countries, namely Singapore, Srilangka, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste can to come up with proud achievement.

"Especially in the future we have PON and so forth until the SEA Games, so this could be a team of shadow of South Kalimantan to result the championship selection later," he explained.

Putra asserted, boxing achievements in South Kalimantan will not go forward if not supported by all components of the nation. He expects the local government to pay more attention to coaching with the support of facilities.

"But do not let the lack of facilities be used as an excuse for not achieving. Of course I am sure the local government will be touched if the boxing athlete win achievement. I see the Governor Uncle Birin is very committed to the progress of sports in South Kalimantan," said Putra who is also Chairman of Pertina South Kalimantan.

Moreover, South Kalimantan best boxer Beatrix has currently chosen to follow the national training camp (pelatnas) for Asian Games exercise preparation. Beatrix figure is believed to be an example for other boxers to excel under the guidance of Secretary of local Pertina Hermanto Ginting.
