Banjarmasin, (AntaranewsKalsel) - The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) is now constructing 12 new buildings whose work is almost completed after almost one year of project.


ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi said he is optimistic the entire construction will be completed on schedule, which is 420 working days since the groundbreaking on July 27, 2017 attended by Minister of Research and Technology and Higher Education Prof H Mohamad Nasir.

"The progress of the development is quite good on schedule, as the roof and wall panels have mostly been completed, even some buildings have ceramic tiles and next is finishing," said Sutarto.

It is expected that in October 2018 all physical construction will be completed and continued by providing appliances and equipment til December and the building is fully ready for the lecture.

Infrastructure development for the progress of ULM was accomplished thanks to an injection of funds from Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in 7in1 program that was achieved by ULM with six other universities, namely Surabaya State University (UNESA), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat ), State University of Gorontalo (UNG), Tanjungpura University (Untan), and Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah).

The ULM is the biggest fundraiser of Rp500 billion, namely Rp384 billion for physical construction, Rp60 billion for equipment, then for development and training of staff and lecturers, excellent research, curriculum revitalization and community service.

"We are now entering an important stage of physical construction of 12 new buildings, 10 buildings on the Banjarmasin campus and 2 on Banjarbaru," Sutarto told Antara news agency on Friday.

The buildings that will become the new face of the ULM, namely Dekanat FKIP, IPS FKIP Laboratory, MIPA FKIP Lab, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Lecture Theater for Faculty of Economics and Business, and General Building (Library, Student Activity Center, Lecture Theater). While in Banjarbaru campus there will be auditorium and sport center.

The quality of education in ULM is believed to enhance as the use of all new buildings. Given that ULM began to develop e-learning system or concept based on information technology.

For example the e-Library is a major leap forward for ULM. In this magnificent building will be available books in the form of softcopy that can be accessed by students, in addition to hardcopy or printed book.

"I hope this good facilities improve the quality of learning at ULM to be prominent and competitive and support ULM to be really superior as we are proud to achieve A accreditation of institution in the short term," Sutarto stressed.
