Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin and South Kalimantan government efforts to popularize the typical cloth of sasirangan and draw Indonesian people to like it seems to be not in vain.


It proof, in the Expo Nusantara held at Sasana Kriya of cultural park Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Jakarta, it turned out Banjarmasin booth "invaded" by the visitors.

Not merely for a sightseeing or windowshopping, the visitors did not hesitate to take their wallets to buy sasirangan, called as the cloth of kings of Banjar in the past.

"Alhamdulillah visitors were many who visit and buy sasirangan fabric," said Head of Economy Dept Banjarmasin City Government, Lily, Friday (20/04).

In addition to sasirangan cloth, Banjarmasin booth also showcases shoes and bags made of sasirangan, snacks, such as amplang (a traditional savoury fish cracker snack), jaruk bean, sambal acan (terasi sauce made with shrimp paste), rabuk haruan (shredded meat of snakehead fish) and lempok durian (taffy made of durian).

The expo is attended by 13 districts and cities across South Kalimantan and all provinces in Indonesia. 

TMII's anniversary is very special for South Kalimantan this year. Because it who was crowned as the host. Not only held an exhibition, South Kalimantan also distributed 3,000 pieces of sasirangan cloth to the guests who attended the ceremony which was centered in Garuda Theater.(Humpro-bjm)
