Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Nashara Ulpah, a student of STT Migas Balikpapan, won the best student in the regional election held by the Coordination for Private Higher Education (Kopertis) Region XI Kalimantan together with Directorate of Student Affairs of Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti).


Nashara Ulpah met after receiving the award at Kopertis XI Building Banjarmasin on Tuesday said she raised the scientific paper about geothermal energy in the contest.

"There is no special preparation when following this event, just repeating my scientific work on geothermal energy," she remarked.

She highlighted the lack of utilization of renewable energy in the form of geothermal. In fact, she said, the potential is quite large, because Indonesia is rich with geothermal resources, among others with the many volcanoes.

"If the geothermal energy can be utilized to the maximum, lack of energy sources such as this time will not happen," she said.
 
It's just, she added, the investment to be spent is quite large, because it must use sophisticated technology.

Executive Secretary of Kopertis Region XI Kalimantan M Akbar said the selection of achievement students is quite strict. Participants not only presented their scientific work, but there was a question and answer session with English.

Some of the criteria to be fulfilled in this event, among others, scientific work, can speak a foreign language, GPA above average, and have other achievements, such as sports, art, or others.

This year the student contest featured the theme of Sustainable Development Goals organized in two categories, undergraduate, and diploma. 16 outstanding students from 16 colleges took part.
