Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Warukin Airport operational in Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, is still constrained by the completion of the license and extension for the Airport Certificate (SBU) from the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Air Transportation.

Head of the Tabalong Transportation Agency Imam Fahrullazi here said on Monday the SBU extension should have been delivered one year before the permit expired, but renovations led to the late handling of the license.

"There is a problem in the process of the SBU extension and the operating permit to the Ministry of Transportation, therefore the operational of Warukin Airport is delayed," explained Imam.

Because of the expired SBU license and the operating license, then the status of Warukin Airport which was originally a public airport dropped into a special airport. This means only charter aircraft can use the airport facilities.

Tabalong Transportation Agency has completed the documents to extend SBU and airport operating permit, including regaining the status of a public airport.

Furthermore, PT Pertamina who manage the airport through its subsidiary company PT Pelita Air Service will cooperate with travel companies for ticket sales.

Meanwhile, the legislative expects Warukin Airport can be operated soon to be impressed idle, because after being renovated and inaugurated on December 4, 2017, until now there has been no flight activity at this airport.

"Do not let the impression of the airport development project to be idle, So it needs to be attempted to be operated immediately," said Chairman of the DPRD Darwin Awi.
