Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Thousands of people parade wearing a colourful costume made from traditional sasirangan cloth to promote the specific South Kalimantan craft, Saturday (11/3).


Public servants, people from various organizations, school children, college students, and communities took to the street in the parade in the peak of the annual Banjarmasin Sasirangan Festival (BSF).

People walked along the way from the city hall on Jalan REMartadinata to the Jalan Lambung Mangkurat. They continued to walk about one kilometer until they reached the Menara Pandang (Tower of City View) at the siring (embankment) of Martapura Riverside on Jalan Piere Tendean (Siring Tendean). 
 
The drum band players came first, then mothers from Family Welfare Movement (PKK) lead by the mayor's wife. All wearing the sasirangan kebaya. But they did not walk, they rode cart like vehicle and waving hands to the people who watch the parade.

From the rear came government employees. They brought with them banners with the name of each agency and each bearing the message "Come On, Let's Wear Sasirangan Cloth".

A group wearing ethnic costumes was present just like models to color the parade. They were about 30 participants and gave a different nuance.

While school children put on their uniform made from sasirangan. They outstretched hundreds of meters of sasirangan fabrics along the way. The sasirangan cloth is their own mass work. 

The Banjarmasin Antique Bike Community (Saban) has become a unique attraction when the ride wearing various ethnic, old-fashioned, and different sort of clothes. All using sasirangan as materials.

The parade ended up at Siring Tendean, where officials, members of the legislative council, TNI and Polri officials have been waiting.

A variety of entertainments were performed, including a funny traditional art of Madihin and other attraction.

2018 BSF which was held from 7 to 11 March the second held in Banjarmasin. All districts and cities in South Kalimantan took part in the many events held, such as bazaar and expo.
