Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Member of Commission II on Economic and Financial Affairs of South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) Danu Ismadi Saderi believes that the revocation of mining permit (IUP) in Pulau Laut, Kotabaru District, could affect investment in the province.

"With the removal of IUP from the companies that will operate on Pulau Laut there must be an impact on investment in this province or district," he said in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

"It's just not certain either small or big the influence on investment will be," continued the retired civil servants (PNS) who joined the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) when answering AntaranewsKalsel.

Therefore, he hopes that local governments continue to make a breakthrough to get new investment.

"Because the investment will make dynamics grow and develop regional economy and support development," said former Head of Agency for Agricultural Technology Studies (BPTP) in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.

But on the other hand, the presence of investment should not damage the environment, the activity must be environmentally friendly, he added.

"There may be no need to rely on mining products for development, but through other sectors such as the encouragement of plantation businesses whose commodities are promising for the world market," said Danu Ismadi Saderi.

Previously, as the mining business conflicts in Pulau Laut Kotabaru triggered a pro and contra demonstration, South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor revoked three IUPs of companies that will mine on the island.

The revocation of IUP valid since January 26, 2018, is for PT Sebuku Sejaka Coal, PT Sebuku Tanjung Coal, and PT Sebuku Batubai.
