Rantau, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Onion from Tapin District, South Kalimantan, began to be exported or marketed abroad, and Thailand became the first destination in the export.

"Early this December we began to export the onion to the Land of the White Elephant as much as 16 tons," said Acting Head of the Tapin Agriculture Agency Wagimin in his office.

Wagimin explained the success of the Government of Tapin to market the onion is in cooperation with the Association of Indonesian Onion Seed Germination (APBMI).

"Alhamdulillah our onion can be accepted by the people of Thailand," said Wagimin.

According to him, Thailand has never received imported onions before. With the receipt of Tapin onion, it is a positive signal for the onion farm in Tapin.

"Surely we will continue to improve the quality of our onion farms to meet the export market," said Wagimin again.

The quality improvement will also be supported by APBMI, who is willing to provide seeds of superior onion as the demand of foreign markets.

"In addition to preparing seeds, they will also prepare experts who are ready to help the onion farmers in Tapin in order to improve the quality of human resources," said Wagimin again.
