Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 23/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan's Directorate of Traffic Police has ticketed 29 taxis for having no licenses in their operation in the local city.


They violated Article 308 Sub-Article b of Law No 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation, said Head of Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Afri Darmawan SIK MH here on Saturday.

The article states that public transport or person who has no license in carrying people transport service, not in the route are fined Rp500,000.

Afri said the police have made a variety of preemptive and preventive efforts so that no more violations occur on the road associated with the transport of people.

The curbing by the police following the rise of the applications-based  online taxi that has led to turmoil aka the opposition from conventional transport drivers.

Even in Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru, there have been acts of car damaging and intimidation to online taxi drivers by conventional taxi drivers.

Afri then asked traffic police in resort police to install banners appeal about sanctions if there are unlicensed taxis carrying transport.

"We hope that with this socialization the unlicensed transport drivers can understand it, so that if caught in the raid already know the legal consequences," said Afri to AntaranewsKalsel.
