Police seized 4,680 packs cigarettes without excise

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 9/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The crime detective unit of Port Sector Police (KPL) Banjarmasin seized 4,680 packs of cigarettes without excise.

"The thousands of packs of cigarettes seized from a courier company when we held a raid in the arrival terminal on Saturday morning at about 1:00 am," said Chief of Port Sector Police Comr Susilawati here on Saturday.

One by one the vehicles descended from the ship were checked closely. Then a truck was suspected. It was loaded with goods from the courier company. Once checked, police found cigarettes without excise.

"The cigarettes with Red Devils brand as many as six cartons with a total content of 4,680 packs were confiscated instantly," she said.

Susi said the case was developed and the driver of the truck checked and claimed the illegal goods belong to a man identified as WF.

Then not for a long time the owner of the cigarettes secured at the courier company at Jalan Ir Gubernur Soebardjo, West Banjarmasin.

Furthermore, the police brought the owner and the evidence to the Port Police for further inspection. He allegedly violated Article 54 of Law No. 39/2007 on Excise.
