Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 1/8 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation in South Kalimantan, which is a combination of the city of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, in July 2017 stood at 0.48 percent.


Head of South Kalimantan BPS Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said inflation in Banjarmasin was 0.48 percent, while inflation rate at Tanjung was 0.28 percent.

"The rate of cumulative inflation in Banjarmasin in July 2017 against December 2016 was 3.26 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate at Tanjung 2.07 percent," she said.

The rate of inflation in July in Banjarmasin was pushed by the price increase, with the highest share of rice with side dishes, chicken eggs, wet shrimp, watermelon and tuna fish.

But some commodities experienced price decline with the highest share of deflation were gold jewelry, gold, garlic, jeans trousers, and gliders.

He said that in Banjarmasin from seven groups of expenditures five groups experienced an increase in price index, namely foodstuff by 1.49 percent, food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco 0.65 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.02 percent.

While the health group experienced an increase of 0.50 percent, and education and sports groups increased 0.11 percent.

"Two expenditure groups experienced a decrease in the price index were clothing by 0.20 percent, and the transport, services and finance group by 0.01 percent," she said.

Meanwhile, commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in Tanjung, among others, spinach, sweet corn, noodles, onion and hot chili.

"Commodities in the Tanjung that have fallen in price with the highest share of deflation werevegetable tomatoes, long beans, garlic, green mustard and eggplant," she said.

The BPS also noted that the consumer price index in 82 cities recorded 59 cities experiencing inflation, and 23 deflation. The highest inflation in Bau-Bau was 2.44 percent.
