Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaraNewsKalsel) - An attempted robbery was thwarted by owner of the house at Jalan Mawar No. 1 RT2, Mawar Urban Village, Central Banjarmasin, Friday (16/6) afternoon.


"The victim whose homeowner caught the perpetrator came into his house when the neighborhood situation was quiet, because it was Friday Prayer," said Central Banjarmasin Police Chief Comr (Kompol) Uskiansyah here on Friday.

According to Uski, it began when AS (33), the robber, came to the scene and stood in front of the door with a backpack while talking on the phone.

Shortly, he broke into the victim's house, precisely at the Fashion Village store and took out a parang, type of sharp weapon, from his backpack.

But Budiman, the house owner, caught this and immediately tried to seize the sharp weapons from the perpetrator. They were tussling, till the goods on the scene scattered about.

The victim finally seized the sharp weapons and immediately came out of the house and shouted "robber" many times.

The perpetrator tried to escape, but he was secured by local residents and a police of East Banjarmasin First Brig (Briptu) Eddy Purwanto who happened to pass.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a tear wound in the left index finger and right pinkie finger while trying to grab the sharp weapons from the perpetrator. While the perpetrator had not time to take the victim's belongings.

"Now the perpetrator, who lived in Kayutangi II, North Banjarmasin, secured in sector police for legal process with the evidence of one parang weapon," said police chief.

On the incident, Uski again reminded residents to increase awareness especially during Ramadan. Where the potential criminal acts of theft allegedly increased with the target empty homes.
