Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 5/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Seven members of Pelaihari Sector Police (Polsek) of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, were awarded by Bank Indonesia (BI) for their achievements in the disclosure of criminal case in payment systems and counterfeiting rupiah.

"The awards were given directly by BI Governor Agus Martowardojo along with National Police Chief Gen Tito Karnavian and we in South Kalimantan only symbolically hand them over," said Chief Representative of BI South Kalimantan Harymurthy Gunawan in Banjarmasin on Monday.

The accomplished police officers were Adj. First Insp. (Aiptu) Johny Sugianto, Brigadier M Hasani, Bripka Panji Suaka, Bripka Pakhriannur, Bripka Nurcipto W, Bripka Umar Said and a policewoman Second Brig (Bripda) Cici A. The seven officers managed to uncover a fake money criminal case on February 15, 2016.

It was originally from the arrest of suspect Suriansyah (65) at rented house at Atilam, Pelaihari, Tanah Laut, together with Rp4,800,000 counterfeit money (48 pieces of Rp100.000 denomination).

It was then developed to capture the counterfeit moneymaker in Solo, Central Java. According to the information of the suspects, counterfeit money has been circulated three to four billion in Banjarmasin, Mataram and Lombok.

According to Harymurthy the disclosure of the case was a remarkable achievement of the police in this area. In addition to the rapid disclosure process to capture its producers to Java, the quality of fake money was very similar.

"The syndicates revealed have very similar sophistication in making counterfeit money and were quite difficult to distinguish from genuine money, this is what we should appreciate," he said.

Meanwhile, South Kalimantan Police Chief Brigadier General Rachmat Mulyana insisted that the reward could be a motivation for all members in the effort to disclose big cases.

"I will see all members who receive the awards if their performance in the future is always good and show high discipline without violation, may get additional rewards in the form of school and others for their career," said chief police.

The award was held on the sidelines of a video conference with National Police Chief Gen Tito Karnavian and Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo at Rupatama South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) headquarters.

At the event at police headquarters, six members symbolically received awards representing 78 police members from various Polda in Indonesia who received similar rewards.
