Batulicin, South Kalimantan 2/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Blood supply at Tanah Bumbu District General Hospital (RSUD), South Kalimantan, is predicted to be enough till Eid 1438 Hijri.

"The blood stock in RSUD currently reaches 300 bags, while the average needs 130 bags of blood each month," said Director of Tanah Bumbu District Hospital through Head of Administration M Saleh in Batulicin on Friday.

He detailed that the stock for blood type A is 82 bags, blood type B 86 bags, blood type O 75 bags and blood type AB 57 bags.

To meet the blood stock, the RSUD cooperated with the local Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) by organizing blood donations in several offices.

"It's been a habit during Ramadan blood stocks thinning, because volunteers who are willing to donor blood less than usual, while the needs are relatively stable as outside Ramadan," he said.

The Tanah Bumbu hospital had suffered a shortage of blood stock in the last few months. The number of patient needs was not comparable with the volunteers who donated their blood.

He admitted the most rare blood stock is blood type AB. On average each month the amount of stock for the blood group ranges from 40 bags.

He ask volunteers who have never done blood donors not to be afraid to become a donor. Because, the more routine the donor, then the body will become healthier.

There are 28 benefits of blood donation for health, one of which protects the heart. For those who are actively donating blood will find a much healthier heart.

"(Other benefits) lowered the risk of getting cancer, helping to lower levels of iron in the blood and renewal of blood cells regularly," he said.
