Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Government of Banjarmasin and Surabaya signed a cooperation agreement to improve the quality of governance, development, regional economy and public welfare of the two cities.

Banjarmasin Mayor Ibnu Sina and the Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini signed the memorandum of understanding to coincide with the 724th anniversary reception of Surabaya City at the Surabaya City Hall yard on Wednesday (31/05).

The signing is intended as a basis for regional cooperation. The scope of the agreement covers technology and information, environment, enforcement of regional regulations, culture and tourism, trade, education and human resources improvement, as well as other fields in accordance with relevant needs.

According to Mayor Ibnu Sina, the implementation of this memorandum of understanding is charged to the APBD (budget) of each local government.

"This agreement is valid for 12 months from the signing and can be renewed according to the agreement of both parties. Every 6 months both parties can evaluate the performance of this agreement, "he said.

In addition to Banjarmasin, several other regions in Indonesia are also implementing the same signatory agreement, such as the Government of Aceh Jaya District, South Labuhan Batu, Medan, Solok, West Tanjung Jabung, Bogor, Rembang, Temanggung, Lamongan, Mojokerto, Batu, Trenggalek, Samarinda, Bone, Central Sumba, and East Sumba.
