Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Traditonal diamond panner in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, found a big diamond with a size of 39 carats and is believed to be of high quality.


East Banjarbaru Police Chief Adjunct Commissioner (AKP) Avan Suligi here on Monday confirmed the findings of large enough diamond by diamond panner in Lukaas area, Cempaka Subdistrict.

"It's true there is a diamond discovery on Friday (5/5) measuring 39 carats and I've seen its shape the size of an adult's thumb with a slightly yellowish red color," he said.

He said, diamond, or the local community commonly called it "galuh", with large enough size is rarely found in the group of traditional panner.

However, he said, the discovery of diamond, which then named after "Diang Geringsing," was quite horrendous, so that his party invited the leader of the group of miners to the local police station.

"The man has arrived to police station with a diamond of findings and then go home and did not ask for police personnel escort," he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Dahlan who kept "Diang Geringsing" admitted the diamond was found about one kilometer from diamond repetition in the village of Pumpung. He still can not estimate how much the price of diamond. "Diang Geringsing" means the beautiful princess jingle because anyone saw goose bumps.
