Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 29/4 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Regent of Tanah Laut H Bambang Alamsyah stated that his area is ready to accommodate the production of corn from all part of Kalimantan, although the district is a national corn granary.


"As a national corn granary means not only capable of self-sufficiency, but can also supply other areas in Indonesia," said the number one person in the ranks of Tanah Laut (Tala) district government while in Banjarmasin on Saturday.

"Although as a supplier, Tala is also ready to accommodate corn from other regions or provinces, especially in Kalimantan," he continued after attending a ceremony in H Abidin HH, Chairman of the Gerindra South Kalimantan.

The reason is in the earth of Tuntung Pandang (Tala) now there are two animal feed processing plants, one with a capacity of tens of tons per day and the other a dozen tons per day, using corn as one of raw materials.

Tala community, which has been part of the former transmigration since 1950s, has been motivated for gardening corn, in addition to other efforts to increase the welfare of families.

"The Tala community has been doing corn plantation for a long time, but it has only been in the last few years or as the present of animal feed mill is growing," he added.

"In addition to adequate prices, they are easily marketed the crop and there is certainty of the market," said Bambang Alamsyah.

Tala which is an expansion of the District of Banjar in the 1950s was famous as a plantation area. In the 1970s as a clove bag of South Kalimantan, and in 1980s with sugar cane plantation and Pelaihari sugar factory.

In addition, Tala is also one of the centers of marine fish production, Therefore, part of the symbol of the area is a picture of a fishing boat with the sail expanded.
