Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in the city of Banjarmasin is said to be supressed compared to what happened in 2016.


Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Anis Suroyo said here on Thursday from January to March last year there were 40 cases of dengue fever, while this year within the same period only five cases were recorded.

"So there is a very significant decrease in the case this year, but the dengue fever (DD) case is still high," he said.

Anis said DD cases recorded in the area up to now as many as 37 cases but all could be handled properly.

"Even if there are reports of people affected by dengue, handling done as soon as possible, till eradication of the nest," said Anis.

According to him, with the establishment of DBD vigilance since the beginning of the year, the socialization to prevent the spread of the virus from aedes aegypty mosquitoes is intensified till remote areas.

Similarly, he said, the improvement of the mosquito larvae controller (Jumantik) program spread to the community.

"One house one Jumantik officer is also encouraged, and it quite works," he explained.

Including, he said, continue to be socialized 3R environmental programs, namely drain water from storage, closing water storage, and bury waste items that can contain water.
