Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Muhammad Rusli appealed to heads of government working units (SKPDs) to replace flower bouquets as congatulation for his inauguration with living or productive plants.

"This is part of our efforts to support natural preservation and to create a beautiful environment,” he said.

The regent expected this as a first step that all parties will participate in preserving the environment. Live plant pots, he said, will be useful and can also conserve the environment.

"Giving potted plants as greeting is expected to provide long-term benefits and increase public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment," he explained.

"By replacing flower bouquets with live plant, we always protecting the nature and the nature will be friendly to us for the saving of our children and grandchildren both for oxygen, water, and living comfort," he said.

The regent's appeal also aims to reduce the use of unfriendly materials while encouraging greening the surrounding environment. So that all SKPDs can be creative in choosing types of plants that are friendly and easy to care for.

This innovative step is hoped not only to beautify Kotabaru District, but to support  greening and environmental preservation, thus it becomes a good example for the community to participate in maintaning the environmental preservation.

The placement and arrangement of plants around the Regent Office in Sebelimbingan starting February 27, 2025, and after the Kotabaru Regent returned from attending retreat in Magelang simultaneous plant arrangement will be carried out.
