Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 29/3 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The "Tiga Roda" cement industry PT Indocement Tarjun Kotabaru is now conserving a water resource to maintain its existence and makes it available to meet the needs of living things.


Corporate Social Responsibility/Community Development Manager of PT Indocement Tarjun H Teguh Iman Basoeki in Kotabaru on Wednesday said the land prepared for conservation area is seven hectares in the vicinity of the company.

"Currently only two hectares are used for ponds," he said.

According to him, almost every year, the area which mostly of scrub and grass thatch caught fire in dry season for more than four months.

That area is now used as a conservation in the form of reservoir to maintain it existence and continuation, the nature and function that it is always available in sufficient quantity and quality to meet the needs of living things, both at present and in the future.

"It used to be no grouse in the area, but with the current reservoir many grouse come, and others in the area," he explained.

To supports the program, Indocement targets to plant tamarind tree, local fruit trees and forest trees around the reservoir site and in other areas.

In addition to guard against fires, these trees could keep water resources to meet the needs of living things.

The Tiga Roda cement industry is in collaboration with the University of Lambung Mangkurat, Forest Fire Control (PKH) of South Kalimantan Forest Agency, and other agencies to support this program.

Head of Forest Protection Section Deni Prasetyo added the public are invited to support the government program through South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin that target the green revolution and the "zero hotspot".

"Indocement program to plant 1,000 trees is an effort to support the green revolution and zero hotspot," he added.
