125 Kalimantan athletes compete in Mayor's Cup

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 17/3 (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 125 tennis athletes from across Kalimantan competing in the Banjarmasin Mayor Cup open championship 17-20 March.

The championships held on the Dharma Praja tennis court for age category of 10-12 years, 14-16 years and 16-25 years.

Mayor Ibnu Sina when opening the championships said he was quite proud of the number of athletes who participate in the event, as almost all provinces in the mainland of Kalimantan take part.

"We hope the athlete bring the achievements of Kalimantan to national and even international level," he said.

He said, many potential athletes seed in Kalimantan, especially in South Kalimantan, and more specifically in Banjarmasin, needs further development of local governments and organizations.

"The government of Banjarmasin join efforts to help the development of outstanding athlete, at least every year we holding (championship)," he said.

Head of Youth and Sports Agency AN Djaya said this match as a venue for improving achievement, especially for athletes who will compete in Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 2017 in Tabalong.

"We cooperate with KONI Banjarmasin and local Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti)," he said.
