The District of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan Province, continues to strive to reduce the risk of natural disaster by establishing Disaster Preparedness Village (KSB).

Head of the district Social Affairs Agency Liana Hamita here on Monday said that KSB is community-based disaster management forum.

"Tanah Bumbu currently has six villages as KSB," she said.

Liana, who was accompanied by Head Social Protection and Security (Linjamsos) Muhammad Supian, said the six villages are Selaselilau in Karang Bintang Sub-district.

Karya Bakti Village, Kusan Tengah Sub-district, Beringin in Kusan Hilir, Dukuh Rejo in Mantewe, Maju Makmur in Batulicin, and Karya Bakti in Kusan Tengah Sub-district.

These villages are prone to flood, thus KSB was established to reduce the risk of natural disasters.

In KSB, people are trained in disaster preparedness, forming evacuation team, logistics, public kitchen, and smelter or temporary shelters. The number of KSB personnel is 30 volunteers per village.

"In the near future, Social Agency wil form two more KSBs in Tibarau Panjang Village, Teluk Kepayang Sub-district, and Lasung Village, Kusan Hulu Sub-district," she said.
