The government of Tanah Bumbu District provided coaching to family support teams (TPKs) as it keeps on its effort to reduce stunting rate in the Bumi Bersujud (a nickname of Tanah Bumbu).

Assistant I for Government and People's Welfare Eka Saprudin when opening the coaching here on Friday (Oct 18, 2024) said that the government is committed to alleviate stunting cases.

Eka said that TPKs play crucial role in mitigating stunting problems in the region. Their duties are providing counseling, facilitating referral services, and providing social assistance.

TPKs also carry out direct survey to families at risk of stunting.

Through this training, the regioal government hopes that TPKs can increase their knowledge and raise people's awareness about the importance of nutrition and health for children's growth.

"Cooperation from various parties is also considered to be an important factor in solving stunting problems," he said.

This activity was expected not only to increase TPKs capacity, but also to strengthen public awareness, so as to create quality human resources with noble character in the district.

There are 27 thousand children in Tanah Bumbu, some 865 or 3.1 percent of them are affected by stunting.
