Kotabaru Power Plant to be Done in 2017

Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 19/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Construction of 2X7 megawatt steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) in the Sigam Village, North Pulau Laut Sub-district, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is targeted to finish in 2017.

Planning Manager of Main Development Unit (UIP) Kalimantan Central Section Hasmar Tarigan in Kotabaru on Thursday said the construction of the Sigam power plant had been halted earlier but now resumed and is scheduled for completion this year.

"In addition to Sigam power plant, the electricity demand in Kotabaru will be supplied from South and Central Kalimantan network in Asam-asam and some other areas by way of interconnection," he said.

Currently, he added, PLN is conducting the development process of submarine cable networks and 150 KV extra-high voltage power lines (SUTT) Batulicin-Kotabaru and Kotabaru substations.

With a network of Batulicin-Kotabaru seabed, then PLTU Sigam will be interconnected with the South and Central Kalimantan networks which also has been interconnected with other areas in Kalimantan.

"When the network of electricity produced from diesel as well as stem-fueled power plant in Kotabaru interconnected, hope there will be no blackout in case of problems," he said.

Earlier, Chairman of the Kotabaru Legislative Council Hj Alfisah said the construction sigam power plant is excluding from electricity projects halted due to government funding problems.
