Martapura, South Kalimantan 6/12 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Juvenile Correctional Facility (LPKA) Class I Martapura, South Kalimantan, is ready to become a pilot Islamic boarding school (pesantren) in the penitentiary environment, especially outside Java.


"Our hope, LPKA Class I Martapura to be a pilot pesantren in prisons," said Director General of Corrections Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) I Wayan Kusmiantha Dusak in Martapura, Tuesday.

He said that after the inauguration of Pesantren "At-Tauba" and ZIP Correctional Center in LPKA Class I attended Regent Martapura Banjar Banjar Khalilurahman accompanied by members regional leader communication forums (Forkompinda).

Pesantren in LPKA Class I Martapura is the only one open outside Java even be the first to prisons in eastern and Central Indonesia.

"Obviously, for being the first, the existence of pesantren in prisons should be an example for other prisons in Indonesia," said the former head of West Java Regional office of Justice and Human Rights Ministry.

Pesantren for inmates in the prison environment is a guidance program run by Kemenkumham and targeted all prisons in Indonesia.

"The program is a religious personality development for prisoners. All the inmates are required to follow the appropriate levels," he said.
