The government of Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, is empowering 395 integrated health service posts (posyandu) in a simultaneous interventions against stunting reduction 2024.

Deputy Mayor H Arifin Noor officiated the movement at the Tiram V Posyandu on Jalan Antasan Raden Darat, Teluk Tiram Urban Village, West Banjarmasin, Monday (June 3, 2024).

This action, he said, is a follow-up of the central government's direction carried out simultaneously in all regions in Indonesia as a form of stunting prevention through ongoing efforts to collect data, weighing and measuring toddlers and pregnant mothers.

He asked that this action not only include data collection and measurement by posyandu cadres, but be combined with providing addition food intake for children and pregnant women.

"If their nutritional intake is adequate, we can reduce stunting," he pointed out.

Arifin insisted that a number of efforts to be taken can be monitored properly.

Head of Population control, Family Planning  and Community Empowerment (DPPKBPM) Helfianoor explained that this intervention is considered appropriate as a step to match the result of the health survey with the real situation and conditions in the field.

The health survey shows that the prevalence of stunting in Banjarmasin was 26.4 in 2023. This figure will later be compared with the real data of visits to posyandu.

"Currently, the target at posyandu reaches 85 compared from the average of 76 toddlers are weighed and measured per month. This figure then describes the real condition of stunted children in Banjarmasin City," he said.
