South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Regency,South Kalimantan, is hosting the Regional Traditional Sport Week (Portrada) to be held from April 24 to 27, 2024.
"I thank the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan for appointing HSS as the host," said acting Regent of HSS Hermansyah, Tuesday.
The games contested five sports, namely kite fighting, block running, engrang, sumpitan (blowpipe), and balogo.
The aim is to revive traditional sports that have been hereditary in South Kalimantan, so that younger generation will increasingly play them.
Especially, since the traditional sports are currently competed at the national level through Portrada.

"This event also supports MSMEs, and helps improve the welfare of community with circulation of money from the sale of products and services from MSMEs," he said.
He also appreciated the Indonesian Society Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI) for preparing the activity, so that there was synergy between provincial with the local government and KORMI HSS.
"Through this activity, we want people's interest and appreciation to traditional sports to increase, so that the cultural heritage is preserved and becomes an inseparable part of their lives," he said.
Also attended acting Chairperson of TP-PKK HSS Rusnawati Hermansyah, Regional Secrertary Muhammad Noor, Chairman of KORMI HSS Kartoyo, forkopimda, assistants, expert staff, and heads of related OPDs.
