Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Pertamina will carry out surveys and studies to assess the potential content of oil and gas in the North Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan.
PT Pertamina EP Field Supervisor Raditya Sains Putra in Amuntai on Friday said the survey is based on instruction from central office of PT Pertamina to examine the natural resources in the respective regions of Pertamina.
"We do not yet know whether there is any gas or oil content in the territory of HSU. Insya Allah after a survey carried out will be known," he said.
Raditya said HSU is into the working area of Pertamina in the Tanjung Area 1 block, so that the central Pertamina instructed to do surveys and studies on the potential oil and gas resources of HSU.
He said the survey began between April-May 2017 in four sub-districts, namely South Amuntai, North Amuntai, Banjang, and Haur Gading. Drilling to be conducted with a depth of 30 meters on each point.
In addition to the HSU, he added, the survey also to be conducted in four other districts, namely East Barito, Tabalong, Balangan, and South Hulu Sungai.
"Later we will conduct socialization at the sub-districts and villages, so that people understand the intent and purpose of the survey," he said.
He explained that Pertamina does not purchase land of the drilling site, but it only provides compensation to the owner of the land according to a decree of HSU regent.
Pertamina also promised there will be no damage to the environment or ecosystem, because the process of surveying and drilling refers to the rules made by the Ministry of Environment.
"To determine whether there is content of natural gas or petroleum in the HSU at least it takes about three to five years," he said.
