Some 18 Tanah Laut fishermen were sent by the district government to attend technical guidance and training on fishing vessel lamination in Semarang, Central Java, the Food Security and Fisheries Office (DKPP) official informed.
Head of Catch Fisheries of the Food Security and Fisheries Office (DKPP) of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, Noor Irwandi Kodratollah said they were sent by the end of February 2024.
"The fishermen who take part in this activities are required to have their own ship or boat," said Noor Irwandi Kodratollah in Pelaihari, Tuesday.

The aim of DKPP to send the 18 fishermen to the training is for the comunity of fishermen to be able to independently repair their boats or ships.
"The advantage is that they can repair the ship independently which will provide income for them," he aid.
He explained that Tanah Laut is the only coastal district in South Kalimantan to conduct this activitiy.
The activity was held, he expounded, thanks to the collanoration between the Tanah Laut DKPP and the Semarang Fishing Center.
