Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The municipal government owned water company PDAM Bandarmasih together with Green Community Forum (FKH) shared water use and environmental protection.
Dissemination was taking place in the junior high school SMP 15 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Hundreds of students and teachers attended the sharing on Friday.
Head of PDAM Public Relations Ramadani Agustini said that taps raw water taken from Martapura River is in limited condition that residents, in this case customers of PDAM, must be frugal.
The river is now facing disrupted conditions due to environmental degradation, especially deforestation in the water catchment area in the upper, in addition to a lot of garbage and silting.
The river is also polluted with coli bacteria, contaminated by metal, and most severely contaminated with high salt levels after the intrusion of sea water, following a reduction debit of fresh water in the river.
Therefore, people should maintain the cleanliness of the river, not littering, and revive it as the lifeblood.
Meanwhile Hasan Z, an environmental activist of FKH invited all citizens to plant trees, because trees proved to be a healthy addition to preserving our environment, cool, and beautiful, the trees also store water supplies.
"If we plant trees, especially in the water catchment area, the water discharge of Martapura River will not be reduced, and inhibit the intrusion of sea water. In turn river water can always be used as raw material for the local drinking water," he said.
FKH is one of the environmental organizations and a major supporter of Banjarmasin as a city of green along with 60 other cities in the country.
Thus FKH besides educating the greening also plant trees such as 3000 trambesi, 5000 palm and nut trees, thousands of longer mix bintaro trees, red bud, sugar palm, and fruit.
Alluding to school education in Banjarmasin there are at least 200 thousand students who will be the next generation who must understand how important environment for life in the future.
This time it took place in the junior high school SMP 5, and then dissemination continue to all schools in Banjarmasin.
