Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Tabalong Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Alfian said 12 sub-districts in this regions prone to floods and landslides.


"All areas in Tabalong prone to floods and landslides, particularly in the south which is an area on a Tabalong Riverside and lower than the northern area," said Alfian in Tanjung, Friday.

Tabalong northern region, although a plateau, but floods often occur. As happened recently in the village of Taratau, Sub-district of Jaro, and Ribang village, Muara Uya.

Usually the floods that hit the northern region not too long compared to the villages located on the banks of the Tabalong River.

Previously lecturer of the Faculty of Forestry University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Banjarbaru Syarifuddin said about 25 758 hectares of land in Tabalong prone to flooding, because of their use without regarding environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, approximately 1,216 hectares entrance area is very prone to floods and floods recorded at 76 locations in the district which total land area of ??about 354,734 hectares.

"The flood disaster in the Sub-Basin Negara downstream South Kalimantan basin were recorded in 76 locations in Tabalong and 149 locations entered North Hulu Sungai (HSU)," said Syarifuddin.
