Chairman of Kotabaru DPRD, South Kalimantan, Syairi Mukhlis, asked PT Sumber Daya Energi (SDE) to build mining vocational school in the area of its underground mining in Kelumpang Barat and Sampanahan sub-districts.
Syairi Mukhlis was speaking after attending first coal production ceremony of PT SDE which was officiated by Acting Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's (ESDM Ministry's) Director General of Minerals and Coal (Minerba) Bambang Siswanto at the underground coal mine Site I Taurung, Magalau Hulu Village, Kotabaru.
"I hope they build one mining vocational school to prepare human nresources for the local resident in that field," he said here on Tuesday.
He said, with this development and education, vocational school children in the future will be able to compete with worers from outside the region.
"With the hope that after graduating they will be recruited by the company," Syairi said.

President Director of PT SDE Xu Da said that the company is committed to improve human resources quality through educational initiative, such as construction of Magalau Hulu elementary school (SD) building.
The company has also been working with Underground Mining Education and Training Center (BDTBT) under the ESDM Ministry's Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM ESDM).
PT SDE actively facilitates its employees to participate in underground mining training programs.
”The company has also contributed to human resources by recruiting residents graduated from training programs held by BDTBT,” said Xu Da.
PT SDE has recently cooperated with the Kotabaru Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans) to facilitate ten loal employees to BDTBT in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, to partake in underground mining training.
”This initiative shows the company's commitment to continuous learning, skills development, and community involvement, as well as the company's dedication to foster a skilled workforce and to contribute to local community sustainable development,” said Xu da.
