Pelaihari, (Antaranews Kalimantan) - Military District Commander (Dandim) 1009 Pelaihari Lt. Col. Hasto Respatyo said in an effort to optimize the management of new farmland in the Tanah Laut, the military has helped open new fields in several districts.
"The cooperation of local governments with the military is expected to increase the cohesiveness of farmers in managing rice fields which impact on increasing the production of rice and other crops in Tanah Laut," said Lt. Col. Hasto Respatyo in activity of simultaneous Plant Acceleration Movement in Takisung Village, Tuesday (20/9).
The opening of new rice fields, according to him, one of the military tasks to help the government to succeed in national food self-sufficiency program.
Separately, Vice Regent Sukamta said Tanah Laut government continues to facilitate and provides assistance to the opening of new rice fields to make the potential of rice production in the region plentiful.
For a group of farmers who are reluctant to work the land, he said, Tanah Laut gives guidance so they can work on land becoming productive.
In an effort to provide guidance to farmers, he said, then the active role of agriculture counseling team (PPL) is necessary.
Furthermore, he argues, opening new rice fields one of the efforts to increase rice production in Tanah Laut, so that food security can be maintained.
