Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Government through the local Health Agency is making some efforts so that the area is free from the attack of measles.


"Measles is often taken for granted by the society, but the disease is dangerous, because it can be deadly," said Head of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) Banjarmasin Health Agency Dr Dellis SF here, Monday.

According to this doctor, the disease can be deadly because it can cause inflammation of brain.

Measles is mentioned as a contagious disease, because the disease is caused by a virus with an incubation period of 8 to 13 days, with fever, red spots on the skin, and cause coughing, runny nose, and red eyes.

This disease can be prevented by immunization. National immunization coverage in the period 2013-2015 continue to decrease, namely 97.6 percent, 94.7 percent and 92.3 percent.

In the last year it did not reach the target. The target of measles immunization aged 9-59 months is 95 percent.

Measles immunization month starting August 1, 2016, ie two weeks of implementation undertaken by all health centers in the city, and two weeks for sweeping and completion of reports.

The target are all children aged 9-59 months regardless of previous measles immunization status. Therefore, he appealed to all the people who have children with that age to immediately come to the nearest health center for free immunization.
