The City Government of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, provided a Japanese language training to a number of prospective migrant workers before their internship to Japan.
"This is a provision for each apprentice so they have the ability to carry out work and do not experience language barrier," said Banjarbaru Mayor Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin when opening the training which was held by the Office of Cooperative, MSMEs, and Manpower, Wednesday.
He emphasized that the training was not just to produce migrant workers (TKI) but it main purpose was to provide a forum to gain knowlegde and technology for jobseekers.
While the participants' ability to master Japanese language so that the knowledge and skills they obtain abroad can be brought home so as to contribute for the progress of Banjarbaru.
"This training is not to produce TKI, but a means of transfering knowledge and technology, so when they already have knowledge, when they return home to Indonesia they can teach it," said the Mayor.
He really appreciated the Cooperative, MSMEs, and Manpower Agency together with supporting partners work to improve human resources in Banjarbaru.
"We all hope Banjarbaru's human resources to be at the forefront of supporting regional progress, especially since it has become the provincial capital of South Kalimantan. Human resources must be of higher quality," he pointed out.
Acting Head of the Cooperative, MSMEs, and Manpower Office
Edy Rosadi said that the ability to speak Japanese is one of the important requirements for visa status for apprentices to Japan.
"A total 40 participants undergo training for six months and are given 320 hours lesson to produce competent workforce and expansion of work potential for all participants," he said.
