Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine declared that 81,2 cubic meters of plywood from South Kalimantan worth IDR434.5 million met export requirements to Germany.
The quarantine confirmed that the plywood met the requirements after carrying out a series of quarantine actions such as physical inspection to the wood to determine wether or not there were live insect pests.
“We have conducted an inpsection to ensure that the plywood can be accepted in the destination country,” said Head of Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Nur Hartanto here, Thursday.
Nur said that the physical examination was not only paid attention to health that it was free from insect pests, but also to ensure that the volume of wood met the loading standards.
“We also ensure that the wood has been given heat treatment according to the applicable standards,” he said.
Heat treatment is a treatment of wood using high temperature with the aim of increasing wood quality for durability.
After the officers carried out various quarantine measures, the Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine issued a document in the form of phytosanitary certifacate as guarantee for wood is pest free.
The certificate is also as a requisite for process of exporting plywood from South Kalimantan to Germany.
He stated that his office is ready to support and facilitate export activities from South Kalimantan through various quarantine measures as the main condition for export.
