PT Adaro Energy Indonesia has won the 2022 Padmamitra Award from the Ministry of Social Affairs for the category of preservation of environment and biodiversity.

Adaro won the award through its Adaro Bekantan Lestari (Adaro Preserving Proboscis monkey) program, one of its leading programs, which is also a commitment of the company to saving the environment and biodiversity in the Bakut Island Nature Park, Barito Kuala District, South Kalimantan.

"This is one of Adaro's commitment in carrying out the vision of becoming a greener company through the pillar of its CSR Adaro Nyalakan Lestari (Adaro Light Up Preservation)," said Adjie Sapta, Chairperson of the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) in Tanjung, Tabalong, Monday.

Adaro was selected  as one of 20 wining companies that passed the interview from 155 companies that registered.

In collaboration with the government, research institutes, and environment organizations, Adaro restored mangrove forest, protecting marine ecosystem, and protecting bekantan (proboscis monkey) which is endangered spesies in Kalimantan (Borneo Island) where Adaro operates.

He said Adaro Group continues to be committed to implementing programs to save the environment and biodiversity in Bakut Island, including 122 bekantan and dozens of bird spesies.

"Adaro also planted bamboo on the bank of the river, built nature school, suppporting adiwiyata school, 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) program, including sorting and processing waste into something more useful," he added.

He hopes Bakut Island Nature Park can be an example for sustainable environment management in Indonesia.

This program provides a long term benefits for local communities and contributes to sustainable development in the surrounding area.

Previously, the 2022 Padmamitra Awarding was held on Wednesday (July 5, 2023) at the Energy Building, South Jakarta.

President Director of PT Adaro Indonesia Priyadi representing Adaro to receive the award presented by Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

The award was an acknowledgement of Adaro's extraordinary achievement and contribution in the implementation of CSR activities in Indonesia.
