Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of South Kalimantan Health Agency Achmad Rusdiansjah stated no fake vaccines in community health centers (puskesmas) and integrated neighborhood health center (posyandu) in this province.

"Until now, there were no fake vaccines circulating in our region, particularly in the community health centers and integrated neighborhood health center," he said in Banjarmasin on Friday.

This, he said, according to investigations conducted by the The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) to the distributor provider of vaccines used in government health institutions, such as puskesmas and posyandu.

"We make sure the vaccine given in posyandu and puskesmas are original, labeled Bio Farma," he said.

According to Rusdiansjah, vaccines coming into this area through direct distribution of Bio Farma is sent via Garuda, then stored in South Kalimantan Health Agency warehouses in  Jalan A Yani Kilometer 6, Banjarmasin.

"All of this is used in puskesmas, posyandu, and other government-owned health facilities," he explained.

For private health clinics, he said, allowed to take the vaccine owned by the government, but should be written for free.

"Some clinics and private hospitals do take the vaccine in our place, of course, must be provided free of charge," he said.

According to him, the health office continue to participate in an investigation into the circulation of fake vaccines that allegedly began circulating in 2003 and 2015, mainly by conducting surveillance in private clinics.

"Indeed, we can not guarantee fully our region is free of fake vaccines, because allegedly been circulating over ten years," he said.

And this, he said, is a disaster for public health in which victims are of toddlers.
